Born Raphael Santi in April 1483, in Italy, in a small town called Urbino. Already by this time, many famous artists saw in the little boy a great talent.
Raphael's first painting became the image of the church of San Agostino. This painting was ordered to him in 1500. He was always admired by paintings by Italian artists, so when he was 21 years old, he decided to study with the most famous: Leonardo and Michelangelo. By the end of 1508, he moved to Rome, where he was hired by Pope Julius II. This was a turning point in the life of the artist.
In 1514 he was invited to the restoration of the temple of Peter. Despite the fact that there was a lot of work, Raphael was able to successfully combine this work with several others. In 1515, he began to work much more productively and the pope laid the responsibility for him on the census of various ancient marble statues and frescoes. Although such masters as Michelangelo and Da Vinci were more talented, they often, unlike Raphael, left their work incomplete.
Rafael Santi was never married, but he once wanted to marry the niece of one important cardinal. According to many experts in the field of art, his early death is due to his sexual intemperance. This famous artist died on his 37th birthday. Rafael Santi is buried in the Roman Pantheon.
